Spring claymation student progress

This semester I am trying to have students focus more on a single functional character. We built rigs from pipe cleaners and tinfoil for structure, and then added clay. Here’s some progress. Woof!

First look at my new comic

Space Sorcerer, savior of the stars, guardian of galaxies, protector of planets!! ... is my first effort at comic books. Originally a pitch to a Nickelodeon cartoon contest (which we didn’t win...), my team of talented college friends and I set forth about 5 years ago to make our idea come alive — in the form of a comic.

I did not know much when we started... but now, I know a lot more in terms of layout, lettering, inking, coloring and producing a comic. It was quite the rocket ride! More on Space Sorcerer to come.

In-person classes are back for 2021!

The Pelham Art Center is offering in-person classes once again (following CDC guidelines of course) and that means more stop motion offerings from me!

I have a youth claymation character class beginning soon, and a youth lego stopmotion class that will begin in the summer. View details at www.pelhamartcenter.org

Our Winter 2020 stopmotion screening had to cancel... that won't stop us!

Even though this new virus forced us to end my class early and cancel our screening event... technology has come to the rescue! You may all watch it on your own screens via Pelham Art Center's Facebook page! Technically still a screening right? Anyways, great fun was had! I had students work more so with modeling clay this time around, although I kept getting requests for Legos. I shall take that request into concentration. 😁

Nice crowd at my Fall 2019 stopmotion class screening!

Thank you to everyone that came to my Fall 2019 stopmotion class project screening! The students had great fun throughout the semester and it's an even more exciting to finally have your work displayed on the big screen while enjoying it with friends and family!

The Winter 2020 semester at the Pelham Art Center is just around the corner. We will be focusing more on clay animation this time around!

Summer 2019 stopmotion was a blast!

The Pelham Art Center had some talented new animators this summer! Here is a project where students animated a mouth to words, which is a bit more challenging and you have to plan out beforehand!

What a wonderful phrase!
